# Replay privacy

> Mask text and inputs, or exclude parts of a page from recording.

This page applies to browser replay in Next.js, Vite + React, and TanStack Start. Configure the `InterfereProvider` from your installation guide. Replay records the page's DOM. Password inputs are masked by default. Configure additional masking before recording customer sessions.

## Mask input values

Set `maskAllInputs: true` on the provider to mask all input values:

```tsx theme={null}
<InterfereProvider plugins={{ replay: { maskAllInputs: true } }}>{children}</InterfereProvider>
```

To mask selected input types, use `maskInputOptions`, for example `{ email: true }`.

## Exclude content with classes

| Class | Effect |
| - | - |
| `interfere-block` | Replaces the element with a placeholder of the same size |
| `interfere-ignore` | Excludes keystrokes and input changes while leaving the element visible |
| `interfere-mask` | Masks rendered text in the element and its children |

```tsx theme={null}
<section className="interfere-block">{paymentDetails}</section>
<input className="interfere-ignore" name="private-note" />
<span className="interfere-mask">{accountBalance}</span>
```

`interfere-mask` applies to rendered text. Use input masking or `interfere-block` for input values.

## Selectors and custom masking

The `plugins.replay` configuration accepts rrweb options including `maskTextSelector`, `blockSelector`, `ignoreSelector`, `maskInputFn`, `maskTextFn`, and `recordCanvas`. The Interfere privacy classes continue to apply alongside these options.

## Disable replay

Set `plugins={{ replay: false }}` to disable recording, or control it with the [replay consent category](/docs/sdk/consent.md).

Verify the result by opening a new [session replay](/docs/product/session-replay.md) after changing the configuration. Masking changes apply to new recordings.
