# Create a surface

> Connect a separately deployed app to your workspace.

A surface represents an app you monitor. Give separately deployed frontends and backend services their own surfaces.

Open [Create a surface](https://interfere.com/~/*/surfaces/create), enter a name, and choose the framework. Copy the public key for SDK ingestion and the secret API key for your build environment.

Follow the matching [SDK installation guide](/docs/quickstart.md#install-the-sdk), then link the surface to its repository and deployment project.
